We remember Hilary Duff as the very nice (and a little awkward) Lizzie McGuire, who won the hearts of many girls in the early 2000s by bringing an average and tender teenager to the screen. Hilary has never stopped since, and her career has evolved alongside her.

Hilary Duff, How Old Is She?

Hilary Erhard Duff was born on September 28, 1987, in Houston, Texas, the second daughter of supermarket chain owner Robert Erhard Duff and his wife, Susan Colleen Cobb. Her mother encouraged her to act alongside her older sister, Haylie Duff, and both girls landed multiple roles in local theatrical productions.

When she was six years old, Hilary and her sister Haylie performed The Nutcracker with the Columbus BalletMet. A few years later, the sisters moved to Los Angeles, California, with their mother, and after several auditions and tryouts, they both landed several parts in TV commercials.

At the age of 11, her first leading role was in the TV movie Casper Meets Wendy (1998), a young Wendy who meets Casper’s animated character by chance. In the television film The Noise of Angels, Hilary Duff later appears as an angel assisting a widowed peasant woman.

The first real step toward her success came when she was cast as one of the children in the first episode of the NBC sitcom Daddio. (2000). Unfortunately, however, Duff was left out of the cast shortly before the show’s presentation; however, her mother and manager encouraged her to continue. As a result, the following week, she was cast as Lizzie McGuire.

Lizzie McGuire, which debuted on the Disney Channel in January 2001, was one of the company’s most successful television shows, averaging over 2.3 million viewers per episode. That was the watershed moment for Hilary Duff, on which she had been working for so long. As a result, Hilary rose to prominence among teenagers.

After filming the 65 episodes of Lizzie McGuire under her contract and the final film of the series Lizzie McGuire – From High School to Popstar (2003), Disney offered to renew her contract for new movies prime-time television series for ABC. Still, the actress declined the offer to continue her career on the big screen and devote herself to music.
